It’s finally here! After months of being sidetracked I’ve completed version 0.7 which turned into a total code rewrite of WiiRadio. Not to bore everyone with the techie geek talk I’ll just list all the new features and slap in a video I threw together. It’s hard to point at the Wii while watching the video on a laptop. I guess I need to invest in some video splitter cables
So…..here are all the goodies!!!
- Stream searching is now working again
- Stream ripping
- Basic local playback (SD/USB) of mp3 files ** Currently only FAT partitions
- Album Art if the local file has it
- Clean up of visuals and a new mix mode
- ProjectM Visuals
- New skin and skin design allowing lua scripting
- And more ….
Download Here from google code
And here’s the highly crappy video I put together

Hey scanff, thanks for the update, but unfortunately german users cannot watch the video because it apparently has content from SME. Can you fix this please?

I noticed the anal warning from you tube. I’ll re-author the video when I get a chance. Thanks

Removed Audio from video for now .. you should now be able to watch it in Germany.

Tried out the new Wii radio and it is real cool. However I cannot find a way to add to playlist. Tried the Windows version as well but it stutters and I can’t find a way to add to that playlist either. (+ key doesn’t work)
Thanks for the update……..!!

The Windows version is somewhat beta’ish right now.
The new skin does not have a button for adding to playlist. However the + button should be a global way to add to the playlists. The original WiiRadio skin has a button to add, you could try that. If this does not work maybe the file permissions for the directory are incorrect. If nothing works can you post the station name you are trying to add.

I found out that I had to move the pls folder to the data folder from the radiow folder and then it works fine. Was playing around with the windows version and saw the difference and gave it a try now the wii works great.
Thanks for the great product……!!

Just a note to add to the above solution. I updated the wiiradio from homebrew and the cache and pls folders were not put in the data folder and many others that were in the data folder were left behind (duplicates) in the main radiow folder.

hmm .. sounds like the installer is not correctly extracting the files.
You are correct the new path is now apps/radiow/data/…. this was done so old incompatible data would be ignored.
I’ll have to take a look on the wii tonight. the original zip on google code has the correct layout. http://code.google.com/p/wiiradio/downloads/

Phenomenally outstandingly vigorously epitomously(not a word but u get it) the most fantastical music streaming program I’ve wanted for the wii for soooo long. Thanks for making my heartache and mundane days slowly fade away. You’re the man, look forward to any tweaks you might have in store for the future. Works great, I’ll probably have questions when it comes to the playlist but I’m so damn happy just enjoying the music and visuals I haven’t cared lol. Thanks again

Hi,
Wiiradio 0.7 is awesome, but it looks like textscrolling isn’t working anymore so complete name of station an current title playing is not displayed. I think it was possible in an previous version. Is there a way to switch on again ?
#15 by scanff on May 29, 2011 - 9:57 pm
Yes, I actually disabled it. Generally people did not like it
Although the code is still there.
I will probably add the option back in the next version.

No idea, I always use HBC. If you find a decent one let me know.

Ok scanff, the time has come. LoL. For some reason over the past 2 weeks I’ve been unable to stream search. I asked once before how to manually add radio stations to my playlist but I couldn’t quite grasp the concept. Could you please give it one more go at explaining to me how to add the stations manually please?
#19 by scanff on June 14, 2011 - 6:29 pm
Hi Poundage,
I don’t see any issue with the search on my wii. Can you tell me how you are searching? This would be very helpful, thanks.
If you want to add manually you can create a .pls file and put in under the apps/radiow/data/pls folder. the .pls format is very simple. Just create a text file with the info (see below) and name it .pls, here an example. Just replace the “File1″ and “Title1″ with what you want. Or maybe easier is use winamp to connect to the stream then save the playlist in the pls format from there.
[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://188.165.216.223:6014
Title1=(#1 – 1/1) My Stream – Blah Blah Blah
Length1=-1
Version=2

Great selection of music and visuals! Thanks for the hardwork!

Hey! An update! Good stuff. Though I’m having a few issues with it. First is there a way to control the visualizations? The new 3D ones just seem to do whatever they feel like and the older 2D ones now seems to have perma-blur always on.
Also are playlists not working at all?
And I’m having the same issue with searching, seems there’s no way to search, it gives me ‘genre’ and ‘connect’ and when I search for a station name in either, it just says ‘failed’ and stops whatever I was listening to.
Seems it did update with things in incorrect folders though, I shall try re-arranging things to see if this clears anything up
Thanks.
